Is This For
YOU?
Love
playing your instrument but just haven't had time the past years because
of family and work commitments? Then Weekend Warriors is for you. If you
can play three chords and are as keen as mustard to get back into the
groove and play with a band, this could be exactly what you are looking
for. This is strictly for amateurs so no need to stress over your skill
level. If you can keep in time and get on with people this is for
you!
OK ..So What
Next?
Crankin'
Up The Jam
You and
a bunch of other people will get together and make a load of noise to "get
the feel" of being in a band and meeting the coaches and organisers of
Weekend Warriors. Sure you might be a bit nervous but so will everyone
else. If it is not for you there is absolutely no obligation to stay at
the jam and it won't cost you a cent.
What
Gear Will I Need?
How does
NONE sound? You are welcome to bring your guitar or bass but that is all.
No amps or keyboards will be needed as Engadine Music will provide them
for you. Just bring yourself and a sense of adventure.
If I
Decide To Stay?
When the
commotion has died down the coaches will form bands of 3 to 6 members
looking at varying skill levels, preferred styles and general sound of
different combinations. Our skilled observers will form the bands so don't
go getting any ideas of your own supergroup at the first jam
session!
Those
who are still keen after the jam will meet soon after to learn which band
they have been placed into and to organise rehearsal times. In the
rehearsal you will prepare a 30 minute set to be played at your first
awe-inspiring gig!
Rehearsing For The Big Gig
It is
extremely important that all participants give their best at the
rehearsals. Being prepared before hand with some home reheasal will be a
critical factor in your band's success. A confident rehearsal will make
for a sensational performance.
And Now
The Night Has Arrived
Grab as
many of your relos, friends and anyone else you can think of and encourage
them to witness a performance of great magnitude (being as humble as your
ego will permit of course). Polish up the axe or your vocal chords and
prepare to rock. All equipment including lights and PA will be supplied at
a venue. The more people the better the gig. All profits from the cover
charge will be donated to a local charity of our choice.
Still
Interested?
There is
a $300 fee to participate which covers coaching and our administration
costs. The fee is payable after the jam, before the first
rehearsal.
