A versatile and very experienced musician, Scott has performed over much of the east coast of Australia in a number of guises. From backyard weddings to playing on national TV, from small clubs to festival crowds of 1000’s, he has performed as a solo guitarist, in jazz and rock bands, acoustic blues duos, tribute shows and big bands. In all he has performed around 2000 professional gigs in the last decade, and some of the notable highlights along the way include:
· Opening for the show ‘Greats of Australian Guitar’ at Sydney’s famous ‘The Basement’ club
· A final five finalist in the Australian Guitar Magazine 2007 ‘Australian
Guitarist of The Year’ Competition
· Twice nominated as a final five finalist in the Musicoz Awards, the
national songwriting competition for unsigned artists.
· Finalist in the Australian fingerstyle guitar championships at the Frankston
International Guitar Festival, Victoria.
· Performing at NSW Parliament House for both state and federal MPs,
Olympic Committee Officials, and the sponsors of Australian elite
athletes.
· Playing at the some of the countries major music festivals with crowds in the tens of thousands
· Playing on channels 9,10,7,ABC and Foxtel's CMC in various guises.
During this time, Scott has had the opportunity to open for or play alongside the likes of James Morrison, Idea of North, James Muller, George Golla, Colin Buchanan, Phil Emmanuel, Lee Kernaghan, Bruce Matiske, Richard Clapton and Dragon.
He has also worked as a session musician on several albums covering a diverse range of genres, composed and recorded music for film, documentaries and advertising, and conducted workshops on various aspects of musicianship, guitar style and technique, and music technology.
Furthermore, he has conducted hundreds of private lessons for students of all ages and capabilities, from young children to players already working in bands wanting to take their playing and understanding to the next level.
In addition to guitarists, Scott has taught theory, improvisation, musicianship and music technology to other instrumentalists and vocalists, in one-on-one situations, through school band programmes, churches, and workshops for various music instrument manufacturers, importers and retailers.
